Generated 10/02/2023 10:42p ET. I’ll make it a tradition of generating a new one on the last day of every season.

Do next year’s positions take effect after the automatic salary increases? It might make sense to make a new player universe whenever that is.

They take place tomorrow, so this is conveniently a player universe that shows you the state of everyone at the end of the 2023 season, and conveniently in the near future you’ll see the first 2024 player universe. So this makes sense, if you are interested in tracking those changes, which is why I published this one right now. If you aren’t, just wait until the first 2024 player universe drops.

FYI, I’ve found some duplicate players in the most recent player\_universe.csv file (or at least players who I suspect are duplicates):
```auto
Name Ottoneuid_1 Ottoneuid_2
A.J. Ewing 43891 44286
Benny Montgomery 40144 40386
Cam Collier 42245 42359
Enrique Bradfield Jr. 44153 44242
George Lombard Jr. 44256 44470
Greg Jones 36672 36921
Jagger Haynes 38531 42842
Johan Ferreira 41758 41832
Noble Meyer 44152 44268
Will Bednar 40145 40800
```
My strategy for identification was to identify the number of players with duplicate names. I then excluded any pair that had two different and valid FGIDs. In all cases, one of the pair was also missing a birthday.

A note on the October 4th player universe. I found three missing players:
| Ottoneu ID | Name | FG ID | FG Minor ID | MLBAM ID | Birthday | Ottoneu Positions |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 42722 | Masataka Yoshida | 31837 | | 807799 | 7/15/1993 | OF |
| 42723 | Kodai Senga | 31838 | | 673540 | 1/30/1993 | SP |
| 43932 | Nolan Schanuel | 33189 | | 694384 | 2/14/2002 | 1B |
