I had a brief conversation with @chy924 and thought I could be a little clearer here and perhaps even more productive, so let’s try it.
In my mind it is not productive to publicly state something along the lines of “This trade is bad, what do you all think, someone’s cheating”. There are a lot of assumptions being made in a post like this. There are two ideas baked in to posts like these, which I believe the OP is, in this thread.
The first idea is “this unbalanced trade was bad, how do leagues survive unbalanced trades?”
The second idea is “these two people are working together to undermine the competitive balance of the league”.
The second idea does not need any input from the community. If you have that concern, please email help@ottoneu.com. We can look into it together and figure out what is going on.
The first idea could use some input from the community. Here are my ideas about unbalanced / “bad” trades:
You should engage with everyone in the league. Directly message both managers separately. Post to the board. Be constructive in these conversations. Do not accuse other people of being dumb or making obvious mistakes or cheating. Ask about the thought process. Think about what you would have offered differently. Think about if you knew that the players who were traded were avaialble - if you didn’t, make sure the other managers in your league know!
There is a reason Ottoneu offers team messaging, a league message board, and a trade block. Think about why those tools exist, how they are being used currently, and how they can be used to better engage your league as a whole.
If the trade didn’t get vetoed, your best path forward is to think about how the market can prevent bad trades in the future by being more engaged. Trades that you perceive as unbalanced should be viewed as future opportunities with the managers involved.
Of course and to repeat myself - if you think these two managers are colluding in some way, you should email help@ottoneu.com.
