Since waivers in Ottoneu don’t have the real-world catch of a team revoking a player from waivers, I was wondering if the option to allow the team last in standings to immediately claim and roster a player from waivers has ever been considered, even just in theory.
I realize this adds little to the game itself and is probably difficult to implement, but could add some benefit to the last place team in gaining a player as soon as they are cut, instead of waiting the 24 hours.
I cannot find, in explicit terms, how this happens in the real world. Certainly the last place teams claim players. Does MLB still require the entire time for other teams to stake claims even though the last place team has the rights?
What value would this bring?
I don’t want to be snarky and I appreciate that you are asking questions more about MLB than anything else here, but I think this sentence is a good sign to not make this a Wishlist post.
Yea, I hesitated posting it here. Really just interested in the thought experiment of it… I’m fine with this being removed or tagged something different.

I honestly have no idea on the underlying question. There’s the ability to make a trade in MLB if someone claims on waivers, but no idea how that would work if the team with the player on waivers has the least amount of leverage possible.
I think the option for a last place team to remove a claim (uncheck the box) within that 24 hour window is more valuable than having that player immediately added to roster. I know I’ve changed my mind several different times when deciding to claim a player and wouldn’t want him added immediately just because i was in last place.
