It makes setting daily lineups an easier task when you can organize daily lineup options from players that aren’t on the 25-man roster. Plus, I get an irrational satisfaction when a prospect gets called up and I can move them from the Minors category to my bench.Thanks!
You can move players on your lineup page to Minors or DL, those sections just don’t appear until you move someone there

Yes, per @vibbot, those areas disappear when they are empty. When you click on any player, they reappear for you to move a player into either area.
