Would it be interesting to review a team that is currently looking for a new owner? We have two in our H2H points league (462); both are on the abandoned list. They both have some interesting keep/cut decisions, and one was a playoff team last year.
You will have to look at my roster organizer to see how I have this set up; cuts are more or less lined up, but I am leaning towards keeping ~35 players, which seems wrong, but many seem well-priced. Everyone has to have bench bats- maybe there’s a thought here on just how to balance keeping well-priced bench bats with taking swings at similar roles in the auction. My feel is that auctions are generally hyped up and everyone is so eager to play ball that many guys get overbid in the moment, so why not hold what’s reasonable.
More granular questions are what to do with my wealth of minor league prospects (guys I’d be in on if they got the call, so why not get in on the ground floor), and major league fringe bats (as I said, seem cheap enough). My starting lineups are basically filled, saving for one or two main draft targets. I’d be honored if you want to take a look, feel free to DM me!
If you want to write out more of your thinking you’re welcome to, but the league and team are all we really need to dig into it. Obviously if you don’t want to tip your hand, just leave it where you did.
If you’ve got me, I could go on for way too long; I don’t want to overdo it! I think I got you the big picture, without wearing you out. (Wow this would be too cool, thanks Niv for even entertaining it.)
That was an awesome listen. You guys nailed all of my thoughts and concerns for Highland Cows. Grounding the advice in league context was a great touch, too. Thanks for taking the time to dig into that.
Keep up the great work with the site and the podcast!
Really enjoyed part 1. If you are still looking for teams, I would offer up mine, League # 1125, Atomic Fantasy, team: Swinging 4 the Fences. It’s a 5x5 roto, which I know u guys wanted to try and touch on. It’s also a league that started with its first year in Covid 2020, which could also provide an interesting angle.
Hey Niv, loved part.1, took some advice to heart and decided to try and “reset” at RP… hence, a trade has been made ($11 Archie Bradley & $7 Joc Pederson are out, $4 Dom Smith is in). So the team you may be reviewing is different now, I have more money to invest elsewhere now. Not done until the deadline…
