Ottoneu Football Average Values - Add If Rostered on Ottoneu Team or Not

Hey Niv! I was looking over the Ottoneu average values for football. As we start to gear up for next year, I wanted to look into some new college guys I may not be as familiar with so I thought to sort the average values for college to see who was most rostered and if there was anybody our league wasn’t rostering yet.

Would it be possible to add a column in for what Ottoneu roster the player is currently on in the same way that the normal Players tab has a team column?

I’m not sure if Baseball has this for Minor leagers yet either, but if we could add to Avg salaries there as well, that would be awesome!

Thank you for all of your hard work!

I’m not sure where you are looking.

Here is every college player with their average salary, roster%, and bunch of other info that might help inform you here.

EDIT: I think you are actually asking for what Ottoneu team they are on in your league. The Average Values pages are not tied to any league. I think the right answer here is to export the Average Values and export your league’s rosters and do a comparison.

Yea, exactly. I was trying to see if there way a way to do the comparison on the site itself. Since every player has a unique Ottoneu player ID, I thought that maybe you could link it into the individual league to see which Ottoneu team they are on.

Average values pages are explicitly meant to not be league specific.

Okay, understood. Thank you

I have more details and thinking here:

The Average Values page is meant to be a reference point for both Ottoneu players and non-Ottoneu players. It not only gives a feel for the value of specific players, it also gives a feel for the Ottoneu format. So, those pages just can’t have league-specific information.

There are other “player discovery” (that’s how I’d categorize this type of problem) pages: Search and Leaderboards. Both of these are not really meant for the unwiedlyness of “all College football players” or “all minor league baseball players”. If you have specific names you want to look up, Search is perfect for that. Leaderboards are oriented more around players at the professional level, since those stats are comparable with each other.

The way Ottoneu expects you to find a prospect are to read about them or see them on TV and then use Search to find them. Finding prospects via “what do other leagues think about them and then are they already rostered in my league?” is a second and third order way of solving this player discovery problem. I do not think it makes sense for Ottoneu to execute this process, since its so specific and kind of echo chamber-y. However if you stand by this as being the right process for you, a custom sheet, which we provide all the data for between league rosters and average values exports, is the best way to execute this kind of player discovery.

You also could just make a list of players, search for them on your league Search page, and then add anyone to your watchlist that you are interested in.

Thanks Niv, appreciate the deeper perspective. I agree there is a risk of creating an echo chamber and that owners still need to do their own research. That said, the Ottoneu economy is unique enough that having this type of aggregate signal can be useful. Similar to how Chad Young puts out a “Hot Right Now” list to highlight trends, I see this as a research tool rather than something that dictates decisions. Ottoneu managers tend to be more serious researchers than on other platforms, so if many owners are showing interest in a player, it can highlight potential arbitrage if that player is still unrostered in my own league. I have been tracking this in my own Excel model for a few years and thought it could be a helpful feature for others as well.
