The Summit (1746) - Recruiting High Performing Managers

I’m excited to announce that a few slackers and I are starting a new FGPts league, The Summit, to bring the top Ottoneu owners to compete against each other. The goal is to create a premiere league that will be challenging and fun, while allowing owners to test their skills against other accomplished owners. We have 9 strong teams in place and are looking to add 3 more to fill out the league. DM me if you are interested in joining the league or want more information.

The Summit was started last year with the goal of bringing together the best owners in Ottoneu. And it definitely lived up to expectations. There really were 12 really good owners and it showed from the very beginning with a very tough and shrewd draft (which I botched badly lol). The chatter all season was how difficult it was to find anything on the wire and get it for a reasonable price. I think I speak for everyone when I say I’ve never had a tougher time finding guys to fill my roster and my starting lineups. As for the results, @bond224 had an insane first half of the season, lapping everyone. @zbrum25 didn’t let up though and kept improving his team and putting up points and overtook Dave in the middle of September, winning by 300 points. It was a very impressive show of skill by both of them. At the bottom, it was a mad dash all season to stay out of the last 2 relegation spots. Besides Zach, the most active buyers seemed to be the bottom 3-4 teams. In the end, 10th and 11th put up 16,700 points and were only separated by 8 points! I think everyone enjoyed it and really felt like it was a step above any other league they have ever done. Except maybe for Zach, who just wins his league every year no matter who the competition is.

If you’re interested in joining, we’ll be recruiting in the next couple of weeks as we replace the relegated owners

The league includes relegation, which means the two teams that finish the lowest are replaced. So, we’re looking for the next wave of owners to compete for the next championship. Here is the league charter, if you’d like more information. DM me if you’re interested in joining.

Bumping this again. We are looking for another owner to join the league. If you have had a lot of success in your leagues and are interesting in competing against other strong owners, we’d love to have you come compete.

My annual update on The Summit. As a reminder, The Summit was formed two years ago with the goal of bringing together the best players in Ottoneu. The league intentionally prioritizes thoughtful, nice owners, and is a FGPts league where the bottom two teams are relegated each year. This year was defined as much by the drops/auctions as the draft/trades. This was our second year and I’d say it was defined as much by the drops/auctions as the draft/trades. There was the expected low/negative surplus going into a league in it’s 2nd season. With the pressure to keep scoring (or other reasons owners had), and a lot of overpriced players, there were a lot of big drops. An early Judge drop resulted in a flurry of trades/auctions that saw several studs change teams. There continued to be big drops/reauctions throughout the season as teams either couldn’t afford to wait out injury/underperformance or wanted to use the money for other pieces. It was highlighted by Judge and Soto, but there had to be at least 10 studs dropped over the season that was regularly changing the landscape or rosters.

As for the scoring, Generous Carriage jumped out to a huge lead early, with hitch right behind him. It was a very tight top of the race all through the summer, with hitch looking like he was going to be able to take the title and buying aggressively to hold his lead. But then he got hit very hard by a string of injuries and steady eddy \ach slowly overtook everyone. He made some good buys, found trade opportunities, and kept pushing higher. The buying pressure (primarily from the bottom teams) was strong all season, so the other competitors eventually relinquished and sold, leaving Zach to repeat with a huge 18,700 points and 1,400-point win.

The last 2 months of the season was defined by the bottom, which was very hard fought. The bottom teams all kept buying up to the deadline and the flurry of adding pitchers was intense all the way to the end. In the end, it was a 70-point difference from 10 to 11. IMO, most telling on how hard fought the ending was that none of the bottom 6 teams were able to get over 1507 innings because no one could fill a stack day. The standings were tight all the way to the end, with 2nd-11th separated by less than 1000 points.

We’ll be looking for new owners soon to take over the relegated teams, so let me know if you are interested in applying
