Today’s Stats page already includes a sum bar for starter and bench totals.
Suggestion: Add a second row that includes total games/innings used, and average score.
Obviously, you win a FGPts league by scoring the most points. But since competitive leagues usually hit their caps, your rate stats matter and may be the better immediate proxy for “how did I do today”? Especially on days that have fewer starts, it’s hard for me to see at a glance whether 40 points from my hitters is good or not. I have to try to count how many people started, and then do some mental division. It would be nice if I could just see, Ah, I didn’t score many points, but I averaged 5.7, that’s good enough, or Ah, I scored 50 points, but the rates were butt." Same goes for pitchers.
In the example shown, my process right now is sort of just, “Ah, two guys had a good day, four guys were fine, two guys had a bad day.” That sounds alright! But mathing it out I feel a little worse: 40 points/9 = ~4.5 by mental math. Note: If you don’t want to add the PPG anywhere, just adding the G (IP for pitchers) in that row somehow would eliminate a step and let me skip straight to the mental math.
As always, it is possible this has already been considered. The main reason I can think against this is that I don’t know whether messing with the architecture of a fundamental page like this makes sense when rate stats (PPG, PPI) are not as relevant for other formats.
Alternate take, for what it’s worth: Games played is not that useful as an at-a-glance denominator for rate stats until the end of the day-- until then, you’re dividing partial game scores by counts of completed games. Plate appearances (for P/PA) would be a superior choice as a replacement, in my opinion.
Note: Suggested PA instead of AB as an option in an earlier version of this post before remembering AB’s use for counting outs.
The Today’s Stats page is now the source of truth for how your team did on a given day. Since Ottoneu leagues run off of games caps, the number of games played in a given day is relevant. That is why games have to be surfaced on this page.
In terms of how you want to evaluate your team, you can do whatever you want.
