Unowned catcher options!

So I made a budget error and had to cut my starting catcher, a $7 Iannetta. I have a $1 Avila, but no further backups.

Options are:

Barnes – highest upside, but not getting a lot of starts
Chirinos – steady starter
Flowers – just back from DL, would be a good option but not sure whether he is going to be the starter given how well Suzuki has played so far, was last season an outlier?
Y. Gomes – sneaky pick, has he recaptured the magic? looks good so far

Whipped up a poll for you

  • Barnes
  • Chirinos
  • Flowers
  • Yan Gomes

I am an Indians fan and thus watch a lot of Tribe games, and homerism aside Yan has looked pretty good so far this season.

Only those four options? I just picked up Max Stassi for buck in a few leagues. He’s starting about 50% of the time.

It’s still early in the season to worry about catchers. Catcher is the one position you can conceivably finish in half a season.

Bertrecords has a point…assuming you’re not in H2H you can always wait a little longer to see what shakes out and start 2 C the rest of the year until you run out of games.
