Which multi-position hitter are you picking?

Tried to limit it to guys who scored under 600 points last year.

You need to pick 1 batter to add some positional flexibility for 2023, who are you targeting?
(points leagues)

  • Brendan Donovan (1B/2B/SS/3B/OF)
  • Spencer Steer (1B/2B/SS/3B)
  • Thairo Estrada (2B/SS/OF)
  • Christopher Morel (2B/SS/3B/OF)
  • Jon Berti (2B/SS/3B/OF)
  • Luis Rengifo (2B/SS/3B)

Reply with the guys I inevitably left off. I felt it would be too much a homer move to include someone like Dylan Moore (2B/SS/OF) but when he started last year, he was $.

With my bench guys, in addition to position versatility and potential production, I want people who play nearly every day. Using FGDC for PA and ATC for wOBA:

  • Donovan: 539 PA, .324
  • Steer: 455, .309
  • Estrada: 574, .316
  • Morel: 447, .308
  • Berti: 357, .299
  • Rengifo: 448, .301

Donovan clearly comes out ahead in terms of versatility (i.e., five positions), highest projected wOBA, and second highest project PA. I like Estrada a lot too, but Donovan looks to me like the best overall bench player.

Now to muddy the waters a little:

Player All Games PPG Games w/ PA > 3 PPG
Brendan Donovan 126 4.41 89 5.15
Thairo Estrada 140 4.24 109 5.53
Jon Berti 102 4.18 87 4.54
Luis Rengifo 127 4.32 109 4.5
Christopher Morel 113 4.16 71 5.36
Dylan Moore 104 2.99 33 6.8
Christian Arroyo 87 3.81 54 5.33

(Excluded Steer as he only had a month of games)

p.s. I vote Thairo on the above poll, but this may be 5x5 bias
