Minimum bid on a player who was cut penalty-free

Hello. I’ve read Penalty-free Cuts and the 30-day reauction rule and some other topics, but I’m still a little unclear.

Imagine a scenario where an owner is allowed to make a penalty-free cut in the middle of the season. I can see that the owner will not be able to participate in an auction during the 30-day time window.

But, my question is, “Will the other owners be able to start an auction at as low as $1, or will that player have half of his salary still present as the starting bid for subsequent auctions?”

There would be no min bid as there is no cap penalty associated with that cut.

It really depends on the type of cut. If you’re taking over a new team or making a cut before the keeper deadline, those cuts are penalty-free. In those cases, the player’s new minimum salary is $1. If you are cutting a player after the keeper deadline and you’ve already used your penalty-free cuts, there will be a cap penalty for cutting that player.
