What will happen to leagues that don’t have full payouts? We have several football leagues in which teams that are out of the playoffs yet to pay and others that haven’t participated at all in months.
This is a good question.
If not every team is paid up at the end of the season in a prize league, the teams that paid will get the prize portion of their balance returned, that is to say the amount of money over the standard $20/year Ottoneu fee. So if for example you are in a $100 football league and only 10 teams of the 12 pay, those 10 teams will get $80 back in their available balance on the site, which they can use to renew teams or withdraw as they see fit.
If you have non-participating managers, I would encourage you to replace them ASAP after confirming they are no longer interested in playing in your league.
I know this is far less than ideal - the whole system is predicated on paying before the season starts so that you can’t pick and choose based on your results and success. Of course, nothing about this has been ideal.

Can confirm, this happened to us two seasons ago when the payment date pushed out. Had two guys just end up not paying at mid season so it was too late to replace them.

Our league has some managers that haven’t been able to renew for legitimate reasons, but have expressed their intent to. It seems for this year, we’ll fall into the category where prizes won’t be paid out, but we’re trying to figure out how to get the prize money to the appropriate people offline. Just to clarify so we can figure out the math for this - if the season ends and the managers that have already paid are refunded the prize portion of their balance, will the managers who haven’t been able to renew still be charged at some point for the 2025 season? And if so, will that charge just be the $20?

If we don’t have credit card processing up before the end of the NFL regular season, we have a much larger problem on our hands, and asking if business will continue as usual in that scenario is a bit confusing.

Sorry, this response was a jumbled mess. Give me a few, I’ll try to respond clearer and give a good update.

Alright, I apologize for my scattered response earlier. I was in the middle of a few things and I should have just waited! So, sorry about that.
We are extending the deadlines so that people who can only pay via credit card don’t lock out their teams, and we accept that there are legitimate reasons to not renew via the secure bank transfer. Absolutely not a problem, and I appreciate that everyone in your league expressly wants to continue playing Ottoneu! That’s the most important part.
This is the part that threw me, but I get what you are getting at. What I hope first is that we will have credit card processing up in the next week. I’m in final approval with a processor and they indicated to me yesterday that everyone was ready to go, but I am still waiting for the final production information. So, we are right at the finish line and very very close to being able to take credit cards again. If we can start taking payments on Monday or Tuesday of next week, we should be able to have a 2 week window where everyone can pay for football this year before Ottoneu starts doling out prizes for this season. I think that would address this issue and make it so you don’t have to worry about handling prizes offline or anything like that.
If we have to delay further, I’ll have to think about the best way to proceed. This has been a long and drawn out process and the experience so far shows that nothing is over until it is absolutely over and we are taking credit card payments again. However, I think handling your prizes offline is probably a good play if a new lengthy delay is required.
To directly answer this question that I again hope does not actually have to be acted upon, the answers to both are yes: we’ll have to at some point take a fee for playing through the 2025 year just to help pay for our sports data feeds and hosting fees, etc. And that charge for anyone who we don’t directly handle prizes for will be $20.

We got final approval yesterday and I am working on getting everything integrated. I’ll update when that is done, but I wanted everyone to know that we are going to be taking credit cards again very, very soon.

Tried clicking on the Credit Card and it did not work. I tried a few times to no avail.
I’ve made some updates to how this experience works on phones. It should look better now.
If you click/tap the credit card button and nothing happens, I would recommend clearing your browser’s cache or just refreshing the page.
A few of you have been able to pay so I feel good so far about everything working!

Just a minute ago, I successfully extended using my credit card! Thanks @nivshah !
For info purposes, I used my phone and I was using the Firefox browser. One note: I clicked extend, the new dialog appeared, and then I clicked credit card. The credit card dialog disappeared. I clicked extend again, and the dialog reappeared now ready for me to enter my details. Again, just for a bit of info, I needed to click extend twice. In the end, it worked. I see I’m extended through 2027 and I see the charge on my credit card already.
This sounds like out-of-date Javascript. I’ve bumped some values so that browsers will update to the latest code.
I just successfully renewed with a credit card. I noticed that the payment dialog was very small, and it didn’t expand to show the part of the form where you enter your credit card details. However, I was able to scroll down and enter my credit card details. But this may not be obvious to people when scrollbars are hidden in your browser. I’m using Chrome on a Mac.
I’ll mess around with the sizing of those forms more. Thanks for letting me know
