The 2025 edition of the Ottoneu Prestige League (OPL) will start taking entries this Friday, February 14, 2025.
OPL is a 240-team best-ball tournament that uses a slightly modified version of your qualified Ottoneu Fantasy Baseball roster. There are unique prizes and it adds an entire layer of strategy to the Ottoneu Fantasy Baseball season.
We will be skipping the Tokyo Series this year. The calendar for 2025 OPL will be as follows:
March 27: Start of first round
April 24: Roster update
May 15: Start of second round, 70 teams eliminated and rosters updated
June 12: Start of third round, 70 teams eliminated and rosters updated
July 16: Start of playoffs, 68 teams eliminated and final roster update
The rules will be updated to reflect 2025 dates once signups go live. The prize structure will remain the same as last year, with a guaranteed opportunity for a 2025 OPL t-shirt for everyone who signs up, and increasing t-shirt discounts the further your team advances.
Once there are 150 teams in the 2025 OPL, the tournament is guaranteed to take place. OPL has filled up every year, so I would recommend joining as soon as possible if you want to be part of the fun this season. I would also recommend Ottoneu Slack as a great OPL resource.
Let me know if you have any questions, and thanks as always for playing Ottoneu Fantasy Sports!
“If an Ottoneu Fantasy Baseball roster is over 40 players in that moment, the OPL system will discard the team’s latest transactions until they are at 40 players.”
Is it ok to assume this 40-player limit does not count players on the MLB 60-day IL?
It is not ok to assume that, because the 40-man limit will include all players on your roster, regardless of IL status. I recommend reading this thread:
Congrats to @weezy and Free Wily Mo Peña for winning the 2025 OPL. The finals came down to the last day and the two teams were only separated by 39 points in the end.
Thanks to everyone who played in the 2025 edition of OPL!
