So just to be clear, this means we can start auctions on Saturday that will finish Monday? And that waiver claims can be made up until Monday?
No, that is the opposite of what I wrote.
Since the season will not be extended until Sunday, you will not be allowed to start auctions on Saturday that would have ended on Monday.
Waivers will be available until the end of the day Monday.
EDIT I should say, that is the opposite of what I meant to convey.
Got it, I see what you meant now. Thanks for the clarification.
Yeah, it is tricky, but will be similar to a game 163 scenario. I’ll basically treat it as if we don’t know the Monday resumption is happening until Sunday night, just like when we’d find out about a game 163 in a different season.
Bumping this handy thread for anyone curious about the resumption of the Cardinals-Orioles game today. Should be a little weird today, and then sometime tomorrow or Friday it will be cleaned up.
3 posts were split to a new topic: Kyle Bradish and Lance Lynn counting as 2GS because of suspended game
Another bump to this thread because of today’s Red Sox-Blue Jays resumption.
As a reminder, you will get the stats back on the original date of the game, and they will show up correctly tomorrow.
The one unique thing today (there is always a unique thing!) is Danny Jansen, whose stats will count today for anyone who played him when this game started on June 26th. However, he has switched teams, and as such I am not sure if MLB is going to consider his game today 1 game played or 2. Something for all of us to learn about together I guess!
Excited to see what happens. In league 186, the owner of Jansen at the time actually did have him in his lineup! As of this morning, it seems to still show as if he is yet to play.
Perhaps its treating him as a a Blue Jay for that whole game? In that case, I don’t know that he technically ever even got an AB… If that is the case, would he not even count towards position caps?
We haven’t loaded data from that game yet because our data provider screwed up so I think speculating is a bit premature.
Alright, now I have Danny Jansen answers:
- His Red Sox stats are showing up for Nashville Numbers on the link provided by @legendaryan
- As pointed out, he did not have a PA for the Blue Jays in this game. There is something pretty esoteric about this, but I’ll get to that at the end. Despite not having a PA, he played in this game and we use the official games stat for games played, which has nothing to do with plate appearances (hence the interest in autobench!). Thus, Danny Jansen has 2 games played on 6/26.
Now for the estoeric part: he was at the plate when the game got delayed, and was down 0-1. If a batter is subbed out of a baseball game mid-AB with 1 or 0 strikes, the remainder of the PA statistically belongs to the new substitute batter. However, if the batter is subbed out with 2 strikes, they get the result of that PA regardless of outcome. Danny Jansen was thus 1 strike away from catching and batting in the same plate appearance.
I talked about this a bit with a couple of friends and we are in agreement that once Danny Jansen came out of the game (regardless of team) he should not have been allowed to re-enter the game. I think MLB messed up this ruling, but the stats are the stats.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Now that stats are updated will head-to-head matchup results update as well? The June 26 completion flipped one of my head-to-head matchups from a loss to a win. But my overall record has remained unchanged.
No, results from previous H2H matches are never affected by resumption of suspended games, only total points.
