Simplest solution is the following: you make a list of those guys, they get remarked as having major league options. Before the next export, each team must add to active roster or cut. Anyone not cut, you’re stuck with paying.
This sounds fine to me. I will make a player a total FA, as long as that player had a contract I edited sometime before Opening Day. Just post anyone you want to do that with here.
I also found a button for clearing salary retention, so I think I can reduce Alex Avila to a single line on the balance sheet. I’d prefer to punish the Simules for punishing Alex Avila’s pride by paying for him to play somewhere else, but it is probably better for the league that the bug be addressed in some way.

For the record, every player that cleared waivers during this period was either assigned to rookie ball or, if they refused assignment, released. Off the top of my head, Anibal Sanchez, Brett Gardner, and Logan Morrison all refused assignment.
